Sep 20, · Poignant and elegiac. It does seem like a mix of nostalgia for something lost,as well as a love song of romantic rebirth probably for his new wife to be Saffron. Musically and structure wise it quotes Lou Reed, a bit of Women from The Blue Mask crossed with VU's New Age. It is a gem. Black Monk Theme is a cover that really was made for The Fall.

The four-song Peel Sessions disc (from November ) predates the Fall’s debut album; two of the numbers are on that LP, the other two are otherwise unreleased. A must for fans. The Fall In: Palace of Swords Reversed is a compilation of Rough Trade singles, flipsides and LP tracks from to , released on Smith’s own label.
